Environment and climate change statistics for Latin America and the Caribbean

Statistical Conference of the Americas of ECLAC - Logo

Established in 2000 pursuant to ECLAC resolution 580(XXVIII) and Economic and Social Council resolution 2000/7, the Statistical Conference of the Americas contributes to the progress of policies on statistics and statistical activities in the countries of the region and promotes international, regional and bilateral cooperation among national statistical offices and international and regional agencies.

It contributes to the progress on statistical policies and activities in the countries of the region, and promotes international, regional and bilateral cooperation between national and international statistical institutes.

The Working-Group, Tools for the production of disaster-related indicators, has the objective to strengthen statistical information management practices related to disaster risk reduction based on disaster- related SDG indicators and the Sendai Framework.

Knowledge-building and cooperation on statistical matters in Latin America and the Caribbean, making available information on events, documents and methodological materials prepared by the working groups of the Statistical Conference of the Americas and by the wider statistical community in the region.

This online hub for knowledge management has the aim of serving as a meeting and reference point for all information related to the Sustainable Development Goals, including activities, informational resources, statistics, regional data, specific analytical instruments and knowledge products developed and made available by the United Nations development system in the region in response to member countries’ needs.

The objective of the Statistical Coordination Group for the 2030 Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean is to coordinate the process of preparation and implementation of regional indicators and the development of capacities for this, within the framework of monitoring the SDGs for Latin America and the Caribbean. The Group will be established within the scope of SCA-ECLAC and develops its activities in accordance with the work of the Inter-institutional Group of Experts on the Indicators of Sustainable Development Goals (IAEG-SDG) and with the activities and decisions of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB).
