Planning for development in the 60 years of ILPES

The Regional Observatory of Planning for Development was launched in 2017 and was created as a response to resolution CRP/XV/01, approved by the Regional Council for Planning (RPC) of ILPES at its XV Meeting in November 2015, but also as a response to a widespread demand from the States of the region to strengthen planning practices.

The main objective of the Regional Observatory of Planning is to support the countries of the region in strengthening their planning and public management processes, as well as to contribute to linking these processes with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in accordance with national and subnational realities and priorities, through the generation of information and knowledge, the identification of good practices and the exchange of experiences. The countries of the region collaborate in the validation of the information that the Observatory continuously collects, analyses, and systematizes.

The Observatory aims to become a space for dialogue and reflection on public management and planning processes in each of the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and to share experiences on how these countries plan and implement strategies to promote their development.
